Kerry Marisa Washington is an American actress best known for playing crisis management expert Olivia Pope in the ABC drama series Scandal. Washington has been nominated for several Emmy and Golden Globe awards for her work on Scandal and was the first African American woman in 18 years to be nominated for an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series
